Mission Statement
​Sols Write House Empowerment Center exists to empower individuals and families to heal, grow, create, and discover purpose through writing, education, creative expression, outreach, and practical community support. We provide safe and encouraging spaces where people can process life experiences, develop new skills, share their stories, and transform pain into purpose. Through author development, grief support, performing arts, technology resources, workshops, and empowerment programs, we equip people with tools to build confidence, strengthen their futures, and create lasting legacies.​

Vision Statement
​Our vision is for Sols Write House Empowerment Center to become a thriving community hub where every story is valued, every person is empowered, and creativity becomes a pathway to healing, purpose, opportunity, and legacy. We are actively seeking to obtain a dedicated Sols Write House that will serve as a welcoming home for writers, artists, storytellers, families, and community members. The house will include a Writing Room for self-publishing authors to write, learn, create, and prepare their books for publication; a Media Room for producing the Sols podcast and other digital content; a Recording Studio for music, spoken word, interviews, and creative projects; and a Café with a stage designed for performing arts, storytelling socials, poetry, music, author events, community conversations, and other creative expressions.
Through this space, we envision building a lasting place where people can write their stories, heal their hearts, discover their purpose, develop their gifts, and create legacies that impact generations.

Our Story
Some things are born out of pain so deep that the only way through is to write it down.
That is how this mission began.
In 2014, SherRi LaVon Jackson took her first steps into purpose inside C.O.N.N.E.C.T Ministries, under the mentorship of Kierra Wyatt. There, she founded the Sols Writing Center — a place where people could put their pain into words and begin to heal. It was a seed planted in someone else's garden, but it was unmistakably hers.
She grew it. She built it into its own 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and stepped out on her own.
Then, in 2016, her youth did something that stopped people in their tracks: they published a book—Sols Lyrically Said—and it made its way to former President Barack Obama. That moment told the world something SherRi already knew: these voices mattered.
She renamed the organization Sols Write House, and kept building.
Since then, she has empowered over 108 self-published authors and placed more than 2,500 books into the hands of incarcerated individuals in prisons across the region. The mission is still growing.

A Woman Who Refused to Quit
SherRi's story does not gloss over the hard parts. Grief. Trauma. Divorce. Raising children alone. The weight of building something meaningful while carrying more than most people ever will.
Through it all, she kept writing. She kept showing up. She kept believing that pain is not the end of the story — it is the beginning of the testimony.
Her faith in love and second chances proved itself on October 13, 2023, when a man of God found her. His name was Charles Jackson — a veteran, an HVAC engineer, a media producer, and a friend. After a year of courtship, they were married on August 31, 2024.
Together, they are building something neither could build alone.

What We Do
Sols Write House is not a bookstore. It is not just a workshop. It is a living, breathing community resource for people who are carrying more than they show.
We meet people where they are — in trauma, in transition, in grief, in the hunger to start something new — and we give them tools:

Therapeutic writing workshops that use storytelling as a pathway to healing

Self-publishing programs that take authors from blank page to finished book

Business start-up training for first-time entrepreneurs ready to build something of their own

Digital workforce development, including free computer placement for homeschoolers and work-from-home families

Root of My Pain Encounters — a sacred monthly gathering where survivors share their stories and find community

Books Behind Bars — placing books, planners, and journals in the hands of incarcerated individuals, shelter residents, hospital patients, and senior facilities

A quarterly healing magazine distributed to prisons, waiting rooms, and mental health facilities across the region
We also host events, publish books, run a weekly podcast, and provide event production support — because healing happens in community, and community gathers.

Charles and SherRi are now building the next chapter together: a full Empowerment Center — a physical home for performing arts, storytelling, grief support, and mental health wellness. A platform where people can share their pain, find their voice, and turn what they've been through into purpose.
Grief and mental health wellness are at the center of everything we do. We believe that the path through pain is not around it — it is through writing it, speaking it, and surrounding yourself with people who understand.
